Female, 56 years old. She frequently wakes up during sleep every night, approximately once every two hours, but can fall back asleep afterward. This symptom has persisted for about ten years. In 2020, a brain MRI showed a 13mm cerebellar tonsillar herniation (Chiari malformation) with associated syringomyelia, although she has no significant discomfort in her limbs. Since 2015, she has experienced mild numbness in her left hand, which is more noticeable in winter and less so in summer. Her grip strength remains normal. In May 2021, she suddenly developed pain in the left hip area, accompanied by pain and numbness on the outer side of the left calf. Imaging revealed lumbar disc herniation, while the femur appeared normal. In November 2023, she experienced knee pain; an examination showed a grade 2 meniscus injury in the right knee. She has hyperlipidemia and is currently taking statins. While on statin therapy, her lipid levels are within the normal range.
